No birth time? What you can still learn from a chart
How to work responsibly with an unknown birth time, which placements remain reliable and which chart details should stay uncertain.

Some of the chart remains dependable
An unknown birth time does not make astrology impossible. The slower planets will remain in the same signs throughout the day, and the Sun, Mercury, Venus and Mars are usually stable enough to interpret by sign. Their relationships may also remain usable when the aspect stays close across the full date.
The Moon needs more care because it travels roughly thirteen degrees per day and occasionally changes sign. Calculate charts for the beginning and end of the day. If the Moon stays in one sign and its major aspects remain intact, you can discuss them with reasonable confidence while stating the uncertainty.
Leave houses and angles open
The ascendant changes quickly and sets the house structure, so rising sign, Midheaven and house placements should not be presented as known. A noon chart is only a calculation convenience; noon is not evidence that those angles belonged to the person.
This boundary improves the reading. Focus on planetary signs, slower-moving configurations and questions that do not depend on a particular life area. Saying what cannot be known is more useful than adding false precision.
Look for records before rectification
Before estimating, check birth certificates, hospital records, family documents and relatives' memories. Note whether a remembered time is exact or a phrase such as early morning. Even a broad window can help identify which lunar or angular possibilities deserve consideration.
Chart rectification tries to infer a birth time from dated life events, but results depend heavily on the astrologer's method and assumptions. Treat a rectified time as a working hypothesis, not recovered fact. A time-unknown chart can still support reflection without pretending uncertainty has disappeared.
