Astrology, astronomy and evidence: a clear distinction
Which parts of a birth chart are astronomical calculations, which are symbolic interpretation, and why being clear about evidence improves astrology content.

The chart uses astronomical data
A natal chart begins with calculable positions: where the Sun, Moon and planets appeared along the ecliptic at a particular time, and how that sky related to the local horizon. Ephemerides and astronomy services can reproduce those positions precisely when date, time, location and reference system are defined.
Retrograde motion, lunar phases and planetary cycles are observable astronomical phenomena. Drawing a wheel from that information is calculation.
Meaning is a different layer
Statements linking Mars with assertion, the seventh house with partnership or a square with tension come from astrological traditions. Mainstream science has not established natal astrology as a reliable way to predict personality or events. Calculation accuracy does not by itself validate an interpretation.
This distinction is not a reason to hide the mechanism. It allows people to know when they are looking at measured sky data and when they are engaging with a symbolic framework.
Use astrology at the right scale
Astrology can function as narrative, ritual, cultural practice or a prompt for reflection. Those uses can be meaningful without presenting them as medical diagnosis, financial forecasting or scientific fact.
A trustworthy astrology product avoids false precision, states its assumptions and protects choice. Curiosity becomes stronger, not weaker, when it can coexist with evidence, uncertainty and the possibility that an interpretation does not fit.
