Mercury
Mercury in a natal chart describes how a person thinks, learns, names things, and moves information through a day. It is the planet of speech, writing, curiosity, and the small decisions that add up to a style of mind. There is no universally worst Mercury placement — a so-called difficult Mercury is usually a mind that needs a different pace, more silence, or more honesty about how it actually works.
Mercury's sign is the style of thought. Mercury's house is where that style becomes visible: in work, siblings, study, or the inner life. Retrograde Mercury in a natal chart is not a defect; it often describes a mind that revises, loops, and arrives at precision by a less linear route.
Natal Mercury is also not the same as a Mercury retrograde transit. The natal placement is a lifelong pattern. A transit is weather passing through. Use a full chart to see both, instead of treating a calendar meme as a diagnosis of your intelligence.
